Croatia’s first IKEA store opened on 21 August 2014. With a total floor area of 38,000 m², the Zagreb store is one of the five largest in Europe and among the ten largest IKEA stores worldwide.
The 38,000 m² store includes showroom and retail areas, a children’s play area, a food court and a Swedish food market.
Our role included complete MEP design and coordination of all building services in accordance with IKEA’s exacting standards.
Originally, all building loads were served by a gas-fired boiler plant and chillers. In early 2016, as part of IKEA’s sustainability programme, we successfully upgraded the existing HVAC plant with one of Europe’s largest groundwater-source heat-pump systems.
