Miljana Castle, located near Kumrovac and the Slovenian border, is a castle built in the 16th century. It was originally owned by the famous old noble family Ratkaj, who owned the castle until 1793, when the last member of the Ratkaj family died. After that, the castle often changes its owners. In 1980, the castle was completely remodelled by Dr. Franjo Kajfež. 30 years later the castle was sold and then completely renovated once again. In that last renovation, we were present as designers of HVAC installations.
Over the years, we have provided a full package of services
Over the years, we have provided a full package of services, from conceptual solutions to technical construction supervision. The project is divided into two main phases, the existing part of the castle, which was completely reconstructed and completed in 2015, and the upgrade of the castle, which began construction in early 2022, and consists of a restaurant, indoor pool, spa & wellness.
The investor's request was maximum energy efficiency, without damaging the historical note of the castle. In the existing part of the castle, surface heating and cooling is provided in full in order to minimize the impact of thermotechnical installations on the historical value of the castle, and in the second phase, one of the largest geothermal installations consisting of 4,000 meters of borehole exchangers in the ground is planned for the needs of the entire castle.
In the future, the investor plans to expand the offer at the location with the construction of a prestigious hotel and a wellness oasis.
