Construction of the new Žabica Bus Terminal in Rijeka is entering a visible and structurally demanding phase. The distinctive steel structure rising at the Zapadna Žabica site will define the identity of the future terminal and reshape the city’s seaward skyline.
The approximately €70 million project began in late 2023 and is expected to be completed in mid-2026.
A Modern Terminal, Public Car Park and New Urban Space
The new bus terminal will have 14 bays located on the first floor of the building. In addition to the terminal, the complex will include:
- a public car park with approximately 860–900 parking spaces
- around 8,000 m² of retail and office space
- reorganization and expansion of the public areas in Žabica Square.
The project will give Rijeka a modern transport hub located between the railway station and the ferry terminal, significantly improving transport connectivity and easing pressure on the city centre.
TERING’s Role
The project’s architectural and structural design was prepared by Studio 3LHD d.o.o. of Zagreb, while TERING is serving as lead of the entire MEP design team, HVAC designer and coordinator of all building-services systems.
By participating in this strategic infrastructure project for the City of Rijeka, TERING is actively contributing to one of the most significant urban developments in the city’s recent history.
