Jadran-Galenski Laboratorij (JGL) is a flexible, medium-sized pharmaceutical company that primarily manufactures generic medicines. It grew out of the central laboratory for the production and quality control of magistral and galenic preparations for JADRAN Pharmacies in Rijeka. Founded in 1991 as Croatia’s first fully private pharmaceutical joint-stock company, JGL is headquartered in Rijeka. Systematic investment in employee expertise and new product development enabled the company to grow from a small enterprise into Croatia’s second-largest pharmaceutical company in a relatively short period. Today, JGL’s portfolio includes more than 540 products, marketed in Croatia, Southeast Europe, the CIS and other international markets.
Over the years, we designed numerous facilities and production areas for JGL. One of the most significant was the HVAC design for its Svilno plant, also known as Pharma Valley (pictured). Our role included energy systems design for the entire factory and laboratory design from the concept stage through construction documentation. The complete scope was developed using BIM technology, enabling precise coordination and collaboration with all other project disciplines.
We also took part in JGL’s Integra 2020 investment and development programme as HVAC designers for the reconstruction of part of Building G60, providing new production facilities within the Svilno 2 complex; the construction of the JGL-G20 logistics and distribution centre in Kukuljanovo; and the reconstruction and extension of the Svilno 2 complex, including Building G15, a new research and development facility.
