Pical Resort will be a premium five-star resort in Poreč, operating year-round and managed by Valamar Riviera d.d., Croatia’s largest tourism and hospitality group by accommodation capacity. Expanding the offering in the Borik area, thoroughly renovating the existing Hotel Pical accommodation and constructing Pical Resort represent Valamar’s largest investment to date and the largest single investment in Croatian tourism.
The resort will feature 513 accommodation units, 10 themed restaurants and bars, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a wellness centre, Istria’s largest children’s play area, Maro World, and a multifunctional congress hall for up to 1,200 participants with premium catering, positioning it as Croatia’s largest and leading conference destination.
The architectural design is by Studio 92 of Labin and Boris Podrecca of Vienna.
Our company was appointed to lead the entire MEP design team, design the HVAC systems and coordinate all building services. The scope also included defining the energy concept, design-to-budget delivery, compliance with the prescribed hotel standards, and BIM coordination with all consultants in our team.

The project was designed entirely in BIM. Construction began in 2019 but was temporarily suspended in March 2020 due to the pandemic and later postponed amid the energy crisis, inflation and slower economic growth.
In the second half of 2023, Valamar restarted the Pical investment, valued at approximately €130 million. Updated documentation was prepared for amendments to the main design and building permit, together with revisions to the detailed design reflecting changes to the project brief, new technological requirements and newly available products.
On 14 March 2024, Valamar and Kamgrad signed the contract to resume construction of Pical, Poreč’s most luxurious hotel. At the time, completion was planned for the end of 2025.
