Tering, recognised for its innovative approach to engineering and design, is proud to be involved in the reconstruction of the Kranjčevićeva Stadium in Zagreb. As part of the Sirrah projekt team, Tering was responsible for designing the stadium’s HVAC systems. Following our successful contribution to the construction of Opus Arena (Pampas) in Osijek, this is another major project that demonstrates our expertise in sports infrastructure design.
Project Progress and Key Details
The City of Zagreb announced that the new stadium would be completed by September 2026. It will be a modern sports venue meeting UEFA Category 4 requirements. The project is fully financed from the city budget, with a total value of €44 million including VAT.

Key Project Dates:
November 2024: Launch of the public procurement procedure for the construction contractor.
February 2025: Opening of contractors’ bids, ranging from €37 million to €42 million.
March 2025: Planned start of construction, with an 18-month programme.
September 2026: Planned opening of the stadium.
Technical Characteristics of the Stadium
The new stadium will be fully covered and will offer significantly increased capacity:
Capacity: increased from 5,350 to 11,163 seats.
Heated hybrid pitch to optimise playing conditions.
A new 6,300 m² square with 150 trees.
Parking: 404 car spaces, 606 bicycle spaces and 16 coach spaces.
Environmental features: an aluminium-profile façade, rainwater-fed vertical gardens, a 1 MW solar power plant comprising 1,800 panels, and LED lighting designed to reduce light pollution.
Modern press facilities and VIP areas.
Tering’s Role in the Project
Tering prepared the main HVAC design for the building permit, as well as the detailed design and bill of quantities. The focus is on energy-efficient and sustainable solutions that will provide optimal conditions for athletes and spectators while reducing the stadium’s overall energy consumption.
Conclusion
This project reinforces Tering’s position as a regional leader in HVAC systems design. The new Kranjčevićeva Stadium will be more than a sports venue: it will be a modern urban space that enhances Zagreb’s sports infrastructure and quality of life. Its delivery will also lay the groundwork for the future construction of a new stadium in Maksimir, further strengthening Croatia’s sporting landscape.
