The opening of the Osijek-Baranja County Economic Centre on 21 April 2023 marked the completion of the first of two major Osijek projects designed by Tering’s engineers. The second, Opus Arena—the new stadium of NK Osijek at Pampas—opened on 22 July 2023.
The Economic Centre is valued at almost €10 million and was partly financed through European funding, the Croatian Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, and Osijek-Baranja County. It is the first phase of a wider development; the second phase is planned to include an office tower, exhibition halls and supporting facilities.
Since work began—on the Economic Centre in 2020 and the NK Osijek stadium in 2016—six Tering engineers have contributed alongside a multidisciplinary team of 40 engineers and designers, led by the renowned Osijek architecture practice Sirrah projekt as lead designer.
Both the Economic Centre and Opus Arena were designed using BIM—Building Information Modelling—and Tering’s engineers designed all HVAC systems for both projects. The comparisons below show the designed systems alongside the completed installations. They clearly demonstrate the value of BIM: potential clashes could be identified during design and resolved before construction.
