Magdalena is a cardiovascular disease centre providing non-invasive and invasive cardiovascular diagnostics, as well as percutaneous and surgical treatment of cardiovascular conditions.
More than 5,500 patients are admitted to the hospital each year, while over 12,000 patients attend its cardiology and cardiovascular surgery outpatient clinic for services including echocardiography and pacemaker follow-up examinations. Magdalena performs more than 4,500 percutaneous diagnostic and interventional procedures and over 800 cardiovascular surgical procedures annually. The hospital is recognised as a cardiovascular centre with a very low complication rate, supported by its high annual volume of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, short inpatient stays enabled by effective organisation, modern technologies used in daily practice, and continuous ISO-certified quality control.
Magdalena Hospital covers more than 5,000 m² and includes two angiography suites, two cardiac surgery theatres, a modern 14-bed intensive care unit, and cardiology and cardiac surgery wards with a total of 80 beds.
We were involved in the design of Magdalena Clinic from the outset. Our role included medical technology design, MEP design and coordination of all disciplines. Across every part of the project, we contributed from concept and main design through detailed construction documentation, professional supervision, final handover and commissioning. The following list highlights only a small selection of the areas we designed at Magdalena Clinic:
- angiography department
- refurbishment of the cardiovascular diagnostics outpatient clinic
- refurbishment of all medical rooms
- operating theatre, sterilisation and intensive care.
Design documentation is currently being prepared for an extension to the operating suite. The original project was developed by our company and its partners in 2015 and received a building permit, but was never constructed. Given the time elapsed since the original design, the project will be modernised and reorganised in line with the Client’s requirements. Among other changes, one hybrid operating theatre is now planned instead of two conventional theatres, bringing the design up to current standards.
